Tampa Bay, FL -- Over the last five years the Outback Bowl and Topher Bay have been
working together to define the ultimate online sporting experience for college bowl fans
through the use of OutbackBowl.com.
This year, OutbackBowl.com is evolving into a more dynamic portal where both merchandise
opportunities and ticket sales can be specifically targeted to the individual user. This
technology will allow the Bowl to more precisely display specific advertising messages
to either the SEC or Big Ten fan on a page-by-page basis.
Along with the ability to better target its users, OutbackBowl.com is being enhanced
with richer deeper content, updated photography, fan polls and contests that will help
to attract visitors during the non-bowl related months. "These additions to our site
give our sponsors the ability to have greater year round exposure through the use of
OutbackBowl.com," explains Mike Schulze, Director of Communications and Sponsorships
for the Outback Bowl.
Much of what happens with OutbackBowl.com is behind the scenes. Throughout the year,
OutbackBowl.com gathers very specific data on the demographics of users and their
behavior and interests within the site. "This year, with the help of Topher Bay, we
are building custom technology that will allow us to really put that data to work for
the marketing of Bowl related products and to help our sponsors reach their target
audience," says Mike Schulze.
Topher Bay is a unique technology company founded in 1991 by Brian Ferber. Along with
his brothers, Glenn and Roger, the trio from the Tampa Bay area has focused on Open
Source technologies. Open Source technology has long been the avenue for advanced
development providing an alternative to commercial products. "The focus on development
and support of Open Source software as a low-cost alternative for our clients has
provided a unique market niche and allowed our company to compete for over a decade,"
says Brian Ferber, CEO and President of Topher Bay. "Many of our customers choose
these solutions but have limited resources to support them." Topher Bay bridges that
gap by providing a wide variety of services, support, documentation, and system
administration for those clients.
Topher Bay provides the Outback Bowl with software consulting and development, network
design, and system administration, for OutbackBowl.com. We are very excited to continue
to work with Topher Bay," says Jim McVay, CEO and President of the Outback Bowl. "Topher
Bay has long been a valuable resource for the Outback Bowl in defining and managing our
online offerings."
